Must See Textile Industry YouTube Videos

Textile manufacturing dates to the Industrial Revolution in the 1700s. Being a highly innovative industry, it is no surprise that a great deal has changed in the past 300 years. From how the plants are grown that create the materials, to the way materials are cut to reduce waste, to the improvements in the screen-printing process. Here are some of our favorite must see textile industry YouTube videos!

Keeping the Fill Out of Landfills

FABSCRAP is a non-profit that is working hard to keep fabric scraps out of landfills. Based out of New York City, this organization is helping fashion brands put an end to textile waste. Each week they rescue more than 5,000 pounds of discarded fabric from making its way to landfills. That is impressive work and a great example of how we can work together to reuse and recycle materials to give them new life.

 

A World Apart in Sustainability

Although this video is a few years old, it is still relevant to the textile industry today. The U.S. Textile Industry is a leader in sustainability. Focusing on the reduction of chemicals, water, and energy usage in the production of cotton materials. With strict regulations surrounding cotton production by the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Textile Industry is also at the forefront of worker health and safety.

Made in America: Brooks Brothers

Just outside of Boston, Massachusetts, and only a 35-minute drive from the Enviro-Tote Londonderry, New Hampshire facility. The Brooks Brothers state-of-the-art Southwick manufacturing plant features modern machinery with old world tailoring. This is a great example of why Made in America equates to high quality products that are made to last.

In September of 2020, Brooks Brothers was purchased by Authentic Brands Group.

 

Remembering the Amoskeag Mills

With it being right in our backyard, how could we not include a video featuring The Amoskeag Mills of Manchester, New Hampshire. It is amazing to think that at one point in time, this area housed one of the largest cotton textile manufacturing plants in the world!
