Sustainable Materials
Recycled Cotton Canvas
One of our all-time favorite materials used at Enviro-Tote is Recycled Cotton Canvas. This fabric is made from a 65% blend of cotton yarn and 35% Bottle Bag materials (100% recycled PET bottles). The cotton yarn blend is produced from the excess fabric of newly made clothing.
According to the Council of Textile Recycling, 25,000 tons of new textile fiber is disposed of by North American spinning mills, weavers, and fabric manufacturers each year. The recycled cotton used in our tote bags is recovered cotton that would otherwise be wasted during the spinning, weaving, and cutting process. It is estimated that up to 40% of the cotton that is grown is wasted between the harvest and the manufacturing of garments. By utilizing this material in our products, we are giving new life to what was previously wasted cotton that would have gone directly into landfills.
Organic Cotton Canvas
Another one of the materials that Enviro-Tote has available for our tote bags is the Organic Cotton Canvas. This material is 100% certified organic cotton and is grown domestically with Texas cotton. This is just another way in which we are investing in our Earth’s future. Organic cotton comes from non-genetically modified plants and provides a healthy cotton that is free of synthetic pesticides. This process results in less chemical pollution in the air and water.
The environment is important to all of us at Enviro-Tote. You may have figured that out just by our name! All our tote bags are made from unbleached or colored cotton, certified organic cotton, and The Bottle Bag™ materials. Additionally, we believe in generating as little waste as possible in all that way do. This means efficient cutting and stitching methods, precise printing, and eliminating fabric waste.
Reduction of Plastic
As we do our part as a company, we also wanted to mention a quick way that you can “go green” and help the environment at home. Going green starts small and can be done in simple ways. The first step is reducing your use of plastic. This can be done by opting out of utilizing the single-use plastic bags that retailers have on-hand when you are out shopping. Instead, choose to bring one (or more) of your own reusable tote bags with you.
A canvas tote bag specifically is made for durability. Not only can you hold more items in one bag, but it can also withstand a greater amount of weight. This means that you only need a few tote bags with you when you go grocery shopping. Less bags means less to carry, which means less trips back and forth from your car. What more could you ask for?
