October has come and gone. Does anyone else feel that this year is flying by? As the month ends, we are excited to share our Feature Friday for October 2020! This month we have a little bit of everything. From books, to wine, yarn, illustrators, and even a college. Avid Bookshop – An independent, community-focused bookshop with two locations in Athens, Georgia. Along with their love of books, Avid Bookshop is also focused on supporting their local community both culturally and economically. A great bookstore that has set out to tackle great causes!

Drawn to Ecology – Alyssa is the artist behind Drawn to Ecology. She is an artist and environmentalist, with a passion for supporting and protecting the health and diversity of the earth’s ecosystem. Alyssa creates sustainable, hand-drawn, small batch products that support New England businesses!

Cast & Dye – Situated in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Cast & Dye is run by Cait and Dina. This dynamic duo has made in their mission to provide Wisconsin-grown fibers that are naturally dyed. A great example of this is the brown dye that they made with acorns. Check out their Instagram highlights to watch the full process of how this is done!

Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet – Newport Wine Cellar & Gourmet has a simple philosophy: find unique wines, beers, and spirits that are naturally and thoughtfully produced and share them with their customers. Their shop features high quality, small production, hand crafted, unique wines, craft beers, and boutique spirits. It also includes artisanal cheeses and gourmet products from all regions. Newport Wine Cellar also features a full kitchen, so they can feed you while you are there, too!

Hannah Arendt Center at Bard College – The Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College is a home for risky thinking about ethical challenges we are faced with in our world. The Hannah Arendt Center is inspired by Hannah Arendt, a leading thinker of politics and active citizenship in the modern era.
